Surge Youth is ANSI Z87+ certified, with ANSI Z87+ safety ratings and impact protection—ready for all the curveballs. Lens performance is also backed by material choices: the Surge line uses PC (polycarbonate) lenses, described as a huge upgrade over traditional TAC lenses. Detour notes the lens material is injected around the Hi-Fi (high contrast) filter to help prevent layers from separating, which can be common in humid, high temperature locations or if you store your sunglasses in your car.

To help keep your lenses cleaner for longer, the oleophobic coating makes wiping smudges effortless and helps extend lens life, while the hydrophobic coating repels water to keep your vision clear and reduce the need to wipe lenses dry.
