How Much Fiberglass Do I Need?

At 38" wide, one layer runs roughly the length of your board plus about 6" for laps. A rough guide:

• Mid-length or funboard (7'0"–8'0"): ~2.75 yd per layer. Figure 8 yards for a three-layer lam.
• Performance longboard (9'0"): ~3.25 yd per layer. Plan on 10 yards for a full glass job.
• Glider or log (9'6"+): ~3.5 yd per layer. 10 yards covers deck and bottom; order two lengths for a full three-layer schedule.
• Repairs & patches: 4 yards covers a lot of ding work and deck patches.

When in doubt, order a little long. E-Glass cuts and stores easily, and running short mid-lam is a bad afternoon.

Do I need 38" cloth for a longboard?
For most traditional longboards and gliders, yes. 38" gives you enough overhang to lap all the way around thick 50/50 rails in a single seam. Boards under about 23" wide can use our 30" cloth instead.

Should I use 4 oz or 6 oz on a longboard?
4 oz keeps weight down and suits performance longboards and lighter builds. Most traditional logs use 6 oz for durability. A popular middle ground is a 6 oz + 4 oz deck over a 6 oz bottom.
