The big benefit is fit control: adjustable wire-core arms and customizable nose pads let you dial in a secure, comfortable hold so you can move freely without constant readjustments.

Vision is tuned for performance, too. Detour’s HiFi high-contrast lenses are designed to sharpen your surroundings, enhance colors, and define details—helping you stay focused on what’s ahead. And when durability matters, Surge adds ANSI Z87+ safety ratings with impact protection, plus ANSI Z87+ certification, so it’s ready for real-world use where knocks and bumps can happen.

Detour also explains the lens construction behind the Surge line. Surge uses PC (polycarbonate) lenses, described as a huge upgrade over traditional TAC lenses, because the lens material is injected around the Hi-Fi (high contrast) filter. This prevents the layers from separating, which Detour notes can be common in humid, high temperature locations or if you store your sunglasses in your car.

For easier daily maintenance, the oleophobic lens coating adds a barrier that makes wiping smudges effortless and helps extend the life of your lenses. The hydrophobic coating repels water to keep your vision clear and helps avoid the need to wipe lenses dry—again extending lens life. Sweat proof, oil proof coatings help the lenses handle active use.
