Why I Started One Revolver Surfboards
One Revolver Surfboards didn’t start as a business plan. It started with a simple idea — build a surfboard that actually feels right.
Like a lot of surfers, I spent years riding different boards, trying to figure out what worked and what didn’t. Some looked great but never felt quite right under my feet. Others worked in certain conditions, but fell short everywhere else.
That disconnect is what pushed me toward shaping my own boards.
I wasn’t trying to create a brand at first. I was chasing better performance, better feel, and a better connection between the surfer and the board.
Where It Started
I started shaping surfboards in 2016 at Point Mugu military housing while serving in the United States Coast Guard.
Learning What Really Matters
Surfing had already become a huge part of my life. Through years of service, moving around, and getting in the water whenever I could, I spent time in different waves and different conditions on all kinds of boards.
Over time, I started to understand what actually makes a board work — not just what looks good on paper, but what paddles well, carries speed, holds through turns, and feels natural when you put it on rail.
That understanding is what pulled me deeper into shaping. I wanted more control over the design, the flow, and the final result.
Why I Got Into Shaping
I got into shaping because I wanted to build something better — something more refined, more personal, and more tuned to the surfer riding it.
Shaping gave me the ability to control the details that make a board come alive: the outline, the rocker, the foil, the rail shape, the bottom contours, and the overall feel from paddle-out to final turn.
It also gave me something else: purpose.
There’s something different about building a board with your own hands and then seeing it ridden the way it was meant to be ridden. That never gets old.
What One Revolver Surfboards Has Become
What started with shaping boards has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
Today, One Revolver Surfboards has become a one-stop shop for surfers — from custom surfboards to surf gear, shaping supplies, and apparel, with more being added all the time.
But the heart of it hasn’t changed. It’s still about building quality boards, staying true to the craft, and giving surfers products I genuinely believe in.

The Details Matter
Fins can change everything.
One of the most underestimated parts of any setup is the fin choice. The right fins can take a good board and make it feel amazing. The wrong setup can make an amazing board feel completely off.
That’s why when I build a custom board, I also help recommend the fin setup that works best with that model, outline, and how you surf — so the whole board works the way it’s supposed to.
Built With Purpose
With the cost of materials constantly rising, building surfboards the right way isn’t cheap.
But I still do everything I can to help active duty, veterans, and their families get into a custom board without breaking the bank too bad.
Because this is bigger than just surfboards. It’s about building something real, helping people get the right equipment, and growing a veteran-owned company the right way.
